The USD 413 Foundation was established in 1996 by the Board of Education as a partnership between the school system and the community. The Foundation operates in a manner similar to endowment funds at many colleges and universities. Your contribution and investment in the Foundation helps to continue and improve the quality of the education provided in Chanute's public schools.
The Foundation will maintain a mailing list of Chanute High School alumni on a computer database. These class lists will be updated for use in preparing for class reunions as well as mailings by the Foundation.
Although independent of the Chanute Public Schools, The Foundation works in support of the District's mission statement, goals, exit outcomes, and community challenges. An Appointed board of directors manages the Foundation's programs and projects.
Leadership Academies may provide experiences for students and for employees. Leadership attitudes, skills, opportunities, and obligations will be emphasized in these academies.
Extended Learning Opportunities may provide advanced or enhanced learning as well as for “catch-up” opportunities.
A master teacher would have times and funds to keep on the cutting edge of successful research and practices. The teacher would demonstrate proven teaching skill for other teachers to observe.
Funds would help the District maintain and enhance the District's technology provisions for students and staff.
The USD 413 Foundation is organized as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt (510 (c) 3) charitable endowment fund to be used to generate and support special projects and programs in Chanute Public Schools. The Foundation is a vehicle for your tax-deductible gifts.
While the USD 413 Foundation is not in a position to offer legal advice, Foundation representatives would be able to provide additional information to interested parties and would consult with legal or tax advisors.
The Foundation is funded by donor's contributions. The funds will be used to enhance academics, fine arts, athletics, vocational and technical training, and for general programs of Chanute Public Schools. Most contributions are unrestricted and allow the Foundation maximum flexibility in meeting designated needs and opportunities. However, it is possible for donors to specify how they wish their gifts to be used. Designated funds include, but are not limited to the following:
