Accelerated Reader Accelerated Reader (AR) will help build a reading culture throughout our school and make reading practice more effective for every student. AR helps the student to personalize their reading practice to their current level and interests. AR helps the student build a lifelong love of reading and learning.
AR Books are books that students independently choose to read on their own. In class, students may read a class novel as well. Novels read IN CLASS count as a class grade, but do NOT count as an independent AR individual grade.
Each student reads 3 teacher approved independent books IN ADDITION to any class novel. Each independently read book must be passed with a score of 70% or higher. Students can read additional books to REPLACE any test not passed at 70% or higher.
Students are encouraged to read often and they may read as many books as they want each quarter; however, tests will not carry over; the AR record begins over each quarter.
