State Scholarships

Kansas Board of Regents Vocational Education Scholarship Program

This program is for Kansas students who plan to enroll in a designated one or two-year vocational program in the state of Kansas. The test is given twice a year, and applications are available in the counseling office. See Mr. Feeback. There is a $10.00 exam fee. 

Amount: $500

Deadline: October 15, 2009

 

Kansas Board of Regents Vocational Education Scholarship Program

American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest

This program helps students receive a better understanding of the United States Constitution, and gain a deeper respect for the knowledge of duties of American citizens. See Mr. Feeback for an application.

Amount: $150-$2,400

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

Applicants must have a 3.85+ GPA and 32+ ACT score. To download an application, visit www.ksde.org and click on “Students.” You will then have access to more information and an application.

American Legion Music Committee Scholarship

This is available for all Kansas high school seniors, college level freshmen or sophomores who have distinguished themselves in the field of music and/or who will major or minor in music at an approved Kansas junior college, college, or university. Applications are available in the counseling office.

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: February 15, 2010

 

American Legion Shooting Sports Scholarship

An outright grant will be awarded to a Kansas high school senior or college level freshman who has participated in an American Legion Shooting Sports program in the State and Regional levels. Applications are available in the counseling office.

Amount: $500

Deadline: February 15, 2010

 

American Legion Hobble (LPN) Nursing Scholarship

Applicants for this scholarship must have attained the age of 18 prior to taking the Kansas State Board Examination and must attend an accredited Kansas which awards a diploma for LPN. 

Amount: $300

Deadline: February 15, 2010

 

The following scholarships are available to high school seniors, college level freshmen or sophomores who are in need of educational assistance, and are enrolled or intend to enroll in an approved junior college, college, university, or trade school located in the state of Kansas. The applicant must be the son or daughter of a veteran; the parent(s) must have been a member of the Kansas American Legion and/or Legion Auxiliary for the past three years. The sons or daughters of deceased members in either organization are also eligible if the parent’s dues were paid up at the time of death. The applicant must be an average or better student scholastically, and must show a high school transcript with grade point average. Applications can be picked up in the counseling office.

Applicants must be a descendent of a member of The American Legion and/or Auxiliary.

U.S. “Udie” Grant Scholarship

The applicant must be a son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a member of the Kansas Sons of the American Legion or a member of the Kansas Sons of the American Legion for the past three consecutive years.

Amount: $500

Eagle Scout of the Year

Students applying must be Eagle Scouts. Nomination forms are available in the counseling office.

Amount: $500-$10,000

Deadline: March 1, 2010   

Ellis Foundation Scholarship

Students interested in this scholarship must be from a low to medium income single parent family.  A 3.0+ GPA and 22+ ACT is required for applicants.  Students must pursue a degree in construction engineering or construction science, agriculture (or related field), veterinary medicine, culinary arts, teaching, nursing, IT computer related degrees, or becoming a doctor.  Students must attend one of the following schools to be considered:  University of Kansas, Kansas State, Emporia State University, Wichita State University, Johnson County Community College, Fort Scott Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Northwest Missouri State University, University of Central Missouri, University of Missouri- Kansas City, University of Missouri- Columbia, Missouri State University, Crowder College, or Cottey College.  To apply visit www.theellisfoundation.org and use the password "cksh10." 

Amount:  $8,000 ($1,000 a semester for 8 semester)

Kansas Breaking Traditions Regional and State Scholarship Competition

This is a statewide competition to recognize outstanding male and female students who are enrolled in a career or technical program, which leads to high-wage, high-skill non-traditional occupational employment.

Amount: $500

Deadline: March 12, 2010

 

Kansas Grain and Feed Association Scholarships

Students interested in this scholarship should be a self-starter, possess excellent academic credentials, be good school and community citizens, and have a strong desire to continue their education. These scholarships are available to students attending any college or university and pursuing any field of study. Applications are available online at www.KansasAg.org/KGFA or stop by the counseling office to get a copy.

Amount: (1) $500 and (5) $1,000

Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association Scholarships

Jim Lee Memorial Agribusiness/Agronomy and Agribusiness/Agronomy Scholarships

These scholarships are available for any high school student planning to major in, or current undergraduate student majoring in, agronomy, crop science, ag engineering, professional ag-chemical application or a related field of study. These scholarships are for students planning to attend or currently enrolled at any university, junior college, community college, or technical school in the state of Kansas.

Amount: (1) $500 and (3) $1,000

Deadline: March 12, 2010

 

Dr. David Whitney Agronomy Scholarship

Any undergraduate student majoring in agronomy at Kansas State University who will be enrolled as a junior or senior in the 2010-2011 school year. Applications can be found online at www.KansasAg.org/KARA.

Amount: $1,000

Glenn Lygrisse/KACRAO Scholarship

Students applying for this scholarship must have a 3.25+ GPA, 22+ ACT or 1020+ SAT, and evidence of Leadership experience. Visit www.kacrao.org for an application and additional information. 

Amount: $500 (4 awards)

Deadline: March 12, 2010

 

Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors

This scholarship is for students that will attend a vocational/technical school and pursue a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair.  Recipients will be chosen on their interest in entering one of these fields of study.  General aptitude and personal traits conducive to success in these fields of study are the main criterion for selection of this scholarship.  Applications are available in the counseling office.

Amount:  $1,000

Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship

This is an academic scholarship.  Students must have participated in high school golf.  Recipients must attend a Kansas college, university, or community college.  Visit www.kansasgolf.org to download an application. 

Amount:  $1250 (5 scholarships, renewable up to four years)

Deadline:  April 2, 2010

 

Kansas Association of Airports Frank A. Tupper Scholarship

This scholarships is available for students attending an accredited, airport management based educational program or for American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) sponsored A.A.E., C.M., and A.C.E. programs.  Associate level, undergraduate and graduate level programs are all eligible.  Complete information and application forms are available on the KAA Web site:  www.kansasairports.org

Bill Spaniol Memorial Scholarship        

Students must pursue a degree in environmental science or related area. Students must attend a Kansas College or University and maintain a 3.0+ GPA while showing an interest in Biological or Physical Sciences.

 American Legion Baseball Scholarship

This is awarded to an American Legion certified baseball player. Applications are available in the counseling office.

Amount: $1,000

American Legion Paul Flaherty Athletic Scholarship

This is awarded to a high school student who has participated in school athletics. Applications are available in the counseling office.

Amount: $125

The United Tribes of Kansas and Southeast Nebraska WIA Program

Scholarship money is available for college tuition for Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and Hawaiian Natives. Call 888.313.5872 for more information.
