CHS GRADUATION, QUALIFIED ADMISSIONS, AND KANSAS SCHOLARS CURRICULUM   REQUIREMENT CHECKLISTS

25 UNITS REQUIRED TO GRADUATE

CHS Graduation Checklist

 ___English – 4 Units (Any Course)

 ___Math – 3 Units (Any Course)

 ___Science – 3 Units (Physical Science, Biology; plus one unit of a science elective)

 ___Social Studies - 3 Units (World History, Government, and Am. History)

 ___Physical Education – 1 Unit

 ___Computer Technology – 1 Unit (or Vocational)

 ___Fine Arts - 1 Unit

 ___Electives – 9 Units 

Kansas Regents Universities

Emporia State University     Fort Hays State University     Kansas State University  

Pittsburg State University     University of Kansas     Wichita State University

Qualified Admissions

Kansas students meeting the following requirements qualify for admission to any of the Kansas Regents universities:

  • Achieve an ACT composite score of 21 or above
    -or-
  • Rank in the top third of your high school's graduating class
    -or-
  • Complete the Qualified Admissions curriculum with at least a 2.0 GPA

Qualified Admissions Curriculum Checklist

___English – 4 Units(No Applied or Skills Courses)

___Math – 3 Units (Minimum of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II)

                                            (3 units @ or above the level of Alg.I, taken in HS)

___Science – 3 Units ( Biology, Chemistry, Human Physiology, Physics, Earth & Space Science)(No Applied Courses)

___Social Studies – 3 Units (World History or AP European History, Am. History and Government)

___Computer Technology – 1 Unit

___Physical Education – 1 Unit(CHS requirement)

___Fine Arts - 1 Unit (CHS requirement)

___Electives – 9 Units (CHS requirement)

 

 

*Qualified Admissions Curriculum is required to enroll in a 4-year Kansas state college or university.  One of the following criteria must be achieved:

1. Complete the above 16-unit curriculum with a 2.0 GPA, or

2. Graduate in the top 1/3 of your class, or

3. Receive a 21 or higher composite score on the ACT.

    

Kansas Scholars Curriculum Completers

The Kansas Scholars Curriculum is the recommended curriculum by the CHS Counselors.  Students completing this curriculum are recognized at the spring awards ceremony and may qualify as a Kansas Scholar.

*Note - The ACT Test must be taken before January 1 of a student's senior year to qualify as a Kansas State Scholar.

___Electives – 6 Units (CHS requirement)

 

 

** The Kansas Scholars Curriculum is the recommended curriculum by the CHS Counselors. Students completing this curriculum are recognized at the spring awards ceremony and may qualify as a Kansas State Scholar.  The ACT Test must be taken by December of the student’s Sr. Year to be considered a candidate for the Kansas State Scholar.
