School Food Service Program:

We are proud of the school lunch program in Chanute and are very appreciative of community support. breakfast and lunch schedules will vary according to individual buildings. The school breakfast and lunch program are administered by the United States Department of Agriculture, Kansas State Department of Education and U.S.D. # 413 Board of Education. It functions under regulations and agreements of all three departments.

The components of the school breakfast and lunch must meet one-third of the nutritive daily requirement of the student. Menus are planned around the students' favorite foods but with variety and new foods offered.

If they prefer, students may eat at school, go home for lunch or bring a sack lunch. Those who bring sack lunches will eat in the lunchroom. Please, no glass containers.

Children who eat at school are expected to observe usual school behavior during the breakfast and lunch periods. We want the school program to be a place for training in good eating habits and courteous behavior. Children who cannot abide by the lunchroom regulations may be asked to withdraw from the program.
